3D Paintings
2023-The 3D Paintings are part of an ongoing series of polychrome 3D prints of paintings (e.g. by Ferdinand Hodler, Stefán V. Jónsson (Stórval) or Jacek Malczewski, to be continued...).
"Karin Sander translates the historical painting back into the three-dimensionality of its/a depicted reality, albeit into a different medium again. Back-translation, which anyway cannot possibly be identical with the original, hence – so Walter Benjamin’s Aufgabe des Übersetzers [The Translator’s Task] – takes linguistic singularity all the more into account. In Sander, it plays specifically with the complex complicity between the two- and three-dimensionality of artistic languages."
