6 Litfaßsäulen im Stadtraum / Six Advertising Columns in an Urban Setting

1993

In the town center of Langenhagen, a suburb of Hanover, six advertising columns are papered with woodchip wallpaper which is then painted over. Each advertising column
paradoxically takes on the aspect of an interior wall, although it consists of a single outer wall. The very fact that the advertising columns convey no message whatsoever turns them into sculptures. Astonishingly, throughout the entire exhibition the white columns remained entirely free of posters and graffiti.
